Overview
Lipo-C is a compound lipotropic formulation containing methionine, inositol, choline, and cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12) in a sterile aqueous solution. Lipotropic agents are compounds that facilitate fat removal from the liver by enhancing hepatic lipid metabolism and preventing excessive fat accumulation — the blend was originally developed for research into non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), hepatic lipid clearance, and lipid transport pathways.
Each component contributes distinct but synergistic lipotropic activity: methionine is a precursor to SAM (S-adenosylmethionine), essential for phosphatidylcholine synthesis; inositol is a critical component of phosphoinositide signaling and lipid second messengers; choline is the direct precursor for phosphatidylcholine and the VLDL secretion pathway that clears triglycerides from the liver; and B12 is required for methionine synthase activity and the methylation cycle. Research applications include hepatic steatosis models, lipid metabolism studies, and investigation of the VLDL/choline export pathway.
